【摘要】:Thistestmethodmeasurestheamountofformaldehydethatisevolvedfromacoatingcontainingmelamine-formaldehyderesin(s)duringcureatelevatedtemperature.Cureformaldehyderesultsfromaside-reactionduringcross-linkingoffunctionalizedpolymerswithmelamine-formaldehyderesins.Cureformaldehydeisevolvedinthefinalbakeorcureoven,whenthecoatingtemperatureishighenoughtoinitiatecross-linking.Formaldehydecanbereleasedfromacoatingduringapplication,solventflash-offandcure.Freeformaldehydeisprimarilyevolvedduringcoatingapplicationandsolventflash-off.TestMethodD1979measuresx201C;freeformaldehydex201D;inaminoresinsandTestMethodD6191measuresformaldehydeevolvedfromcoatingsatambienttemperature.Thismethodmeasuresonlytheformaldehydereleasedduringheatcure,whichisprimarilyx201C;cureformaldehyde.x201D;Thistestmethodisnotintendedtoduplicatetheevolvedformaldehydefromanindustrialprocess,butservesasareproduciblecomparativelaboratoryevaluation.Thistestmethodhasnotbeenevaluatedwithcatalyzedcoatingsystemsthatcureatorbelow40x00B0;C,suchasthoseusedbythewood-finishingindustry,andwouldlikelyrequirespecialadaptationforthisapplication.1.1Thistestmethodisforthedeterminationofformaldehydeevolvedfrommelamine-formaldehyde-basedcoatingsduringthecurestep.Theresultsmaybeusedtodeterminethe"cureformaldehyde"evolvedfromasampleundercontrolledlaboratoryconditions.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thistestmethodiscapableofmeasuringfrom500956;g/gto22000956;gformaldehyde/gdrycoatingunderthetestconditionsspecified(3000ml/mintotalflow,50ml/minDNPHtubeflow).TheratiooftotalflowtoDNPHtubeflowcouldbeadjustedtoextendtherangeofthemethod.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
